There is a new hotel in the Jewish ghetto with ritual bath mikveh.
The former almshouse or also the match factory - the present-day hotel Joseph1699 was inaugurated on 28th July 2010.
The year 1699 remains its history. Samuel Lewita built the house in this year and in 18th and 19th century was being the house rebuilt for several times. The whole complex was not maintained from 1983 to 2009. The hotel can be used both for accommodation and tourism.
There is a Jewish ritual bath mikveh in the lower part of the hotel building which is separated from hotel rooms. Mikveh should be deep enough to cover the entire body of an average-sized person. The mikveh in hotel Joseph1699 is no more used for its purpose but shows the past of this place. For visiting the mikveh contact the tourist information center at the Back synagogue or directly the hotel reception. There are two mikvehs in Třebíč according to some historical documents.
The Pošvař Family bought the house complex in 2000; five years took the pre-reconstruction works. The reconstruction lasted one and half year and was co-financed by the European regional development fund.
Mr. Pošvař consulted with the historian of the town Třebíč Rudolf Fišer and heritage institute how to keep the former look of the buildings during the reconstruction. The hotel has 16 rooms and each room is different as the result of creating the hotel buildings during centuries.
